Life of Service according to the Gospel

November 25

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the countless blessings You have bestowed upon us. Thank You for the gift of family and the love that binds us together. Thank You for the community that surrounds us, offering support, encouragement, and friendship.

In this season of thanksgiving, we are especially mindful of the ways You work through those closest to us, teaching us kindness, patience, and compassion. Help us to cherish the moments we share, whether in joy or challenge, and to see Your presence in every smile, embrace, and word of encouragement.

Lord, may our family and community always reflect Your love and light to others. Help us to grow together in faith, hope, and charity, and may we continue to give thanks to You not only with our words but also through our actions.

We ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who unites us in Your eternal love.

in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Announcements

Happy Thanksgiving from Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School!

As we gather in gratitude during this season of Thanksgiving, we reflect on the abundant blessings that enrich our lives—our faith, our families, and the vibrant community that makes our school so special.

We are deeply thankful for the dedication and support of our families, the friendship and joy of our students, and the unwavering commitment of our staff to nurture hearts and minds. Together, we embody the spirit of Saint Jeanne, striving always to serve God and one another with love and grace.

May your Thanksgiving be filled with peace, joy, and the warmth of loved ones. We pray for safe travels, meaningful moments, and abundant blessings for all.

With gratitude, love and prayers,
The Administration, Sisters, Faculty and Staff of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School

Moving Forward

At Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School, we are transitioning away from traditional parent-teacher conferences to better align with our mission of fostering meaningful, ongoing collaboration between parents, students, and educators. Traditional one-day conferences occurred infrequently and did not provide the timely feedback families needed to support their child’s growth. Additionally, the brief nature of these meetings limited opportunities for deep, personalized conversations about a student’s progress.

To address these challenges, we are embracing the dynamic communication foundations that the school has in place. Digital platforms, such as our Learning Management System, Otus, STAR Benchmark Assessments and SELOnline, allow parents to track their child’s academic and overall emotional intelligence (EQ) growth in real time, providing regular updates that reduce the need for in-person meetings. The use of technology also allows us to share detailed reports and data dashboards, ensuring parents remain informed and engaged without the need for formal conferences.

We are also utilizing student-generated digital portfolios with teacher involvement. These digital portfolios, accessible in Otus, allow students, teachers, and parents to track progress across multiple subjects and skills, showcasing both achievements and improvements. By curating their own work and documenting progress, students develop a deeper understanding of their academic strengths, areas for growth, and the steps needed to achieve their goals. This process promotes critical thinking, self-assessment, and goal-setting skills, empowering students to take a more active role in their education.

In addition, our goal is to provide a holistic view of each child’s development. Beyond academics, we prioritize social-emotional learning, behavior, and individual needs, which are better addressed through ongoing, personalized communication, both directly with students and with parents. Students participate in Social Emotional Learning Assessments twice a year to help measure individual, group, and school responses regarding aspects of a "Sense of Safety," "Sense of Belonging," and "Instructional Support." This data is vital to fulfilling our mission and serving our students effectively.

By offering continuous and flexible communication methods, we aim to better meet the needs of our school community. We encourage you to schedule a time that is convenient for both you and your child’s teacher(s) if there are any specific points you would like clarified in person. We also encourage you to consider meeting with your child’s teacher if they reach out to you with some specific concerns or to share plans that will maximize your child’s growth throughout the year.

Thank you and we look forward to our continued partnership in educating your child In Life and For Life!

In the Company of Mary,

Sister Cecilia Durán, O.D.N. - Principal
Allison Spillman - Vice Principal

Important Message

Dear Parents,

This is to inform you that due to Google’s new licensing policies, parent email accounts under the @zo23.com domain will no longer be accessible as of January 1, 2025.

We wanted to inform you so that you have time to back up any important emails or documents you may need from your account before this date. After January 1, the accounts will be deactivated due to this new policy and you will no longer have access to them. The school has not generated any new @zo23.com email accounts for parents since 2019, however, there are still some legacy accounts that are active.

The school will continue to use the parent’s email address entered in the FACTS Family Portal during the registration process for communication purposes. Please ensure that you change your account email address in the FACTS Family Portal to a personal email address prior to January 1, 2025, to ensure that you do not have any interruptions to the school’s communications.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we adapt to Google domain licensing changes.

"Yours is a great gift to the Church, a great gift to your nation."
- Saint Pope John Paul II

Countless people in our country have been blessed by the many gifts of Catholic schools. However, many adults have lost touch with their local Catholic school community. It is time for those people who have been impacted by your school to reconnect with the community that gave them so much, and give back. If you, or know anyone who would like to give to Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School, please contact Sister Cecilia Durán ([email protected]).
